This week, AARC President Martin Vulaj and Chairman of the Board Illyrian Rusi held a constructive and candid meeting with Mr. Paul Pfeuffer, Acting Director of South Central European Affairs at the U.S. Department of State.
While the meeting was not attributable, we welcome the continued clarity from the U.S. government as articulated by U.S Special Representative John Kelly at the recent Security Council meeting. The policy remains one of mutual recognition between Serbia and Kosovo.
Kosovo is falling behind. It must move swiftly to form a stable, forward-thinking government that strengthens its relationship with the United States and takes bold, proactive steps to address its internal challenges. Pointing fingers at Serbia is not a strategy. Accountability and action are needed.
AARC strongly urges Kosovo to drop its tariffs against the United States—a necessary and symbolic step toward reaffirming our shared commitment to partnership and progress.
The meeting also touched on broader regional priorities, including transnational infrastructure initiatives connecting Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia, and Croatia, as well as the evolving political developments in North Macedonia.
We thank Mr. Pfeuffer for his time, and for the continued U.S. engagement in the Western Balkans.
